Ghulam Mohammad Mir, 51, a resident of Khumryal Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district succumbed to his injuries in SMHS on Wednesday. Sources said that Mir was injured four days ago by a bullet during a protest.
With the succumbing of Mir, the death toll has gone up to 48 after protests erupted in the valley against the killing of Militant commander, Burhan Wani on July 8.
Separatist leaders, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik Wednesday issued a fresh protest calendar, against what they called Indian atrocities extending the shutdown call up to July 25.
“From Thursday 2pm people are advised to stock whatever they can in few hours,” a joint statement said.
The statement said that Friday 22 July amid complete shutdown will be observed as “Kashmir Day”.
The new calendar is as follows:
Thursday 21 July: Deal in shutdown from 2 pm
Friday 22 July: Complete shutdown, Kashmir Day
Saturday 23 July: Complete shutdown, protests in mosques
Sunday 24 July: Complete shutdown, protests in mosques
Monday 25 July: Complete shutdown, Jalsa in Anantnag
The joint statement pledged that the ongoing “struggle” will go on.
